Amtrak’s Heartland Flyer will provide special service for football fans traveling to Dallas for the annual Red River Rivalry game between the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas. The initiative is a partnership between Amtrak and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, offering an alternative to driving for those attending the event.

Passengers can ride with other fans, avoiding traffic and parking concerns. The train features Amtrak’s Sightseer lounge, which offers large windows for scenic views during the journey.

The Big Game Train departs from Oklahoma City’s Santa Fe Depot at 8:25 a.m. on Friday, October 10, arriving at Dallas Union Station by 2 p.m. For those traveling on game day itself, service is available Saturday, October 12, with arrival in Fort Worth at 12:27 p.m., ahead of the 2:30 p.m. kickoff. Stops are available in Norman, Purcell, Pauls Valley, Ardmore, Gainesville (Texas), and Fort Worth.

Return service from Dallas is scheduled for Sunday, October 12 at 3:15 p.m., reaching Oklahoma City by 9:27 p.m.

Seating availability is limited. Reservations can be made online at Amtrak.com/HeartlandFlyerBigGame.

“Amtrak and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation are offering passengers the chance to relax, socialize and show their school spirit onboard with other fans, without the hassle of traffic or parking.”
