A federal jury has found Ronnie Allen Barton, 48, from Canadian County guilty of several charges related to child sexual exploitation. The charges include two counts of attempted coercion and enticement of a minor, one count of commission of a sex offense by a registered sex offender, and one count of attempted receipt of child pornography. U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester announced the conviction.

The case against Barton began when a federal Grand Jury indicted him on February 20, 2025. A trial led to his conviction on June 17, 2025.

Evidence presented during the trial showed that in July 2024, an undercover FBI agent placed an online advertisement offering access to two fictitious underage girls for sexual purposes. Barton responded to the ad and over several months requested pornographic images of the girls. He later arranged to meet the agent and the fictional children at an Oklahoma City motel for sexual acts but was arrested upon arrival on January 24, 2025.

Barton is already a registered sex offender with a prior felony conviction in 2018 for lewd acts or indecent proposal in Canadian County District Court case number CF-2017-254.

At sentencing, Barton could face a minimum of 20 years up to life imprisonment in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.

The FBI Oklahoma City Field Office conducted the investigation leading to Barton’s arrest. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Elizabeth Joynes and Brandon Hale are prosecuting this case.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. PSC coordinates resources across federal, state, and local levels to identify offenders who exploit children via the Internet and rescue victims.

Further details can be found in public filings regarding this case.
