The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that William Clayton Brown, a 42-year-old resident of Eufaula, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Indian Country. The charge is punishable by up to life imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
According to the Information, Brown killed the victim with malice aforethought on September 15, 2017. The incident took place in McIntosh County within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
The investigation was conducted by the Eufaula Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The plea was accepted by U.S. District Judge David C. Joseph from the Western District of Louisiana, who was sitting by assignment. A presentence investigation report has been ordered.
The final sentence will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Brown will remain in custody under the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.
