Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Lynda Ozan announced that the owners of a farm in Kiowa County have received an Oklahoma Centennial Farm award. The Boyd-Moore-Vetter Farmstead, owned by Connita and Gerald Vetter, also earned a Historic Structures Award.

The farm is located near Roosevelt and has been in the family since 1925 when Floyd Allen Boyd settled the land. The family has cultivated wheat, cotton, alfalfa, milo, and maize over the years.

To be eligible for a Centennial Farm or Ranch Award, properties must have been occupied by a family member for at least 100 years and currently be operated or occupied by a family member or leased out by one. Additionally, the property must cover at least 40 acres with gross annual sales of no less than $1,000.

The Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry have sponsored these awards for 36 years. In this period, 72 awards have been given in Kiowa County.
