A Mannford resident, Gary Syd Goldberg, 77, received a sentence of 120 months in prison for possession of child pornography. U.S. District Judge Eric F. Melgren delivered the sentence, which includes an additional 10 years of supervised release. Upon completion of his sentence, Goldberg must register as a sex offender.
The case began in October 2023 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported a cybertip about an image uploaded to an AI image generator platform. Law enforcement identified Goldberg as the uploader of the image depicting child sexual abuse. A search warrant executed at Goldberg’s residence led to the seizure of several electronic devices. During questioning, Goldberg confessed to possessing hundreds of images of child pornography and admitted to daily viewing such material over the past 24 years.
Court records reveal that in 2001, Goldberg pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography through the mail and was sentenced to 18 months in prison. He will remain in custody until his transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
The investigation was conducted by the Mannford Police Department and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mallory Richard and Ashley Robert prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute offenders while identifying and rescuing victims.
