The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma has announced that Angel Urbina-Ramirez, a 53-year-old Mexican national unlawfully present in Poteau, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to unlawful reentry of a removed alien. This charge carries a potential penalty of up to ten years imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000.
The case stems from an investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division. The indictment stated that on June 13, 2025, Urbina-Ramirez was found in the United States after having been previously removed on January 30, 2018, without obtaining consent from the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, which is a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations. It involves resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood.
U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow accepted Urbina-Ramirez’s plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. A U.S. District Court Judge will later determine his sentence based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
Until sentencing, Urbina-Ramirez will remain in custody under the United States Marshals Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dak T. Cohen represented the United States in this matter.
