Matias Noah Ramirez, a 26-year-old resident of Okemah, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to felony assault in federal court. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Ramirez admitted to one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to do Bodily Harm. This charge carries a potential sentence of up to ten years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
The indictment stated that on August 17, 2025, Ramirez attacked the victim by throwing boiling water onto their back, resulting in severe burns. The incident took place in Hughes County, within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department, and the Okemah Police Department.
The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge Jason A. Robertson in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Judge Robertson ordered a presentence investigation report before sentencing is determined.
A U.S. District Court Judge will decide on Ramirez’s sentence after reviewing federal guidelines and other relevant factors. Ramirez remains in custody with the United States Marshals Service until sentencing is completed.
