Oklahoma voters will decide on State Question 832 in June, a measure known as the $15 Minimum Wage Initiative. If passed, this initiative would raise the state’s minimum wage from $7.25 to $15.00 by 2029. Starting in 2030, future increases would be tied to the Consumer Price Index, as calculated by the U.S. Department of Labor.
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has surveyed its members regarding SQ 832 and reports strong opposition among them.
The NFIB is asking business owners to participate in a survey about how the proposed minimum wage increase would impact their operations. According to the organization, gathering stories from business owners will help illustrate the effects such policy changes could have on small businesses in Oklahoma.
A video produced by NFIB titled “Minimum Wage, When It’s High Enough, Is a Significant Problem for Many Small Businesses” highlights concerns raised by small business owners regarding higher mandated wages.
Business owners are encouraged to share their perspectives with NFIB through its ongoing survey.
