Randall Joseph Williams, a 56-year-old resident of Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to 40 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm while subject to a protective order. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

On April 12, 2025, officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a disturbance at a residence involving a firearm. Officers discovered that Williams had threatened several people, including family members, while armed. After speaking with police and allowing them to search his vehicle, officers found a firearm inside. Court records show that Williams was under multiple protective orders at the time, including one issued by the Oklahoma County District Court which determined he posed a credible threat to the safety of a child and prohibited him from possessing firearms.

A federal Grand Jury indicted Williams on May 20, 2025, for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty on June 18, 2025, admitting he possessed the weapon despite an active protective order against him.

At his sentencing hearing on November 24, 2025, U.S. District Judge Patrick R. Wyrick ordered Williams to serve 40 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release. Judge Wyrick stated that the sentence reflected “the need to protect the public, promote respect for the law, and deter future criminal conduct by Williams.”

The investigation was conducted by the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary E. Walters prosecuted the case.

This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America (OTBA), an initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and violent crime through coordinated efforts against cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The case also falls under “Operation 922,” which focuses on prosecuting federal crimes related to domestic violence within the Western District of Oklahoma.
