Christian Ismael Soto Retamosa, a 35-year-old registered nurse from Oklahoma City, has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

The case began in March 2024 when the messaging app Kik reported to law enforcement that one of its users was distributing videos containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). According to court records, the FBI found that this user had exchanged CSAM with Retamosa while he was working as a nurse in Oklahoma City. Further investigation revealed that Retamosa also exchanged CSAM with Robert John May III, a former South Carolina state representative. May III was prosecuted separately in South Carolina and recently received a 17-year federal prison sentence for distributing child pornography.

On February 3, 2026, Retamosa admitted during his plea hearing that he knowingly possessed several electronic devices containing CSAM, including images of prepubescent children.

Retamosa could face up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 at sentencing.

“This case is the result of an investigation by the FBI Oklahoma City Field Office, Homeland Security Investigations offices in Columbia, South Carolina, and Oklahoma City, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in South Carolina. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bow Bottomly.”
