Oklahoma State head coach Steve Lutz announced on May 11 the signing of Luka Bogavac, a 6-foot-6 guard from Montenegro, to join the Cowboys’ roster for the 2026-27 basketball season.
Bogavac, who is 22 years old, brings international experience to Oklahoma State after playing two seasons in the Adriatic League and representing Montenegro at both junior and senior national team levels. He played last season at North Carolina, where he started in 21 games.
“Luka has grown up in high-level basketball and has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages. It shows in his game—he plays with poise, confidence and purpose. Paired with his size and shooting ability, he has all the tools to be a very good player at OSU,” Lutz said.
During his time with North Carolina’s Tar Heels, Bogavac averaged 9.8 points per game and made a team-high 52 three-pointers. He scored double figures in 18 games and recorded a season-best of 20 points against Clemson. Before joining North Carolina, he played for SC Derby in the Adriatic League during the standout 2024-25 season, ranking fifth in league scoring with an average of 14.9 points per game while shooting forty percent from three-point range and eighty-seven percent from the free throw line.
Bogavac was part of teams that won titles such as the Adriatic Super Cup in 2024 and secured domestic success by winning Montenegrin League regular-season honors before reaching consecutive finals. Several former teammates have also advanced to Division I college basketball programs.
He debuted for Montenegro’s senior national team during Olympic Qualifying Tournaments and FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers in 2024 after helping secure a bronze medal at FIBA U20 EuroBasket two years earlier. Bogavac attended high school in Belgrade, Serbia; spent two seasons developing at KK Mega Basket; speaks four languages; and previously played club basketball under his father NebojÅ¡a’s coaching.
