The Oklahoma Transportation Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 8, in the R.A. Ward Transportation Building located at 200 N.E. 21st St., Oklahoma City. The public and media are invited to attend or watch the proceedings via livestream.

During the meeting, commissioners will receive updates on several topics. One of the main items is a briefing on the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s new statewide seat belt safety campaign, “Never Skip the Click,” which is being conducted in partnership with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.

The commission will also recognize ODOT for receiving top honors from both the regional ITS Heartland Chapter and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.

Commissioners are expected to approve memorial designations and sign installations across the state. Among these is naming the I-35 and E. 33rd interchange in Edmond as the “Ambassador Neal McCaleb Memorial Interchange” to honor former Transportation Secretary and ODOT Director Neal McCaleb.

The agenda includes voting on whether to award contracts for several transportation projects. These include pavement improvements on US-69 near Chouteau in Mayes County, as well as upgrades to two busy corridors: SH-37 near Idabel in McCurtain County and SH-7 near Sulphur in Murray County.

The full agenda packet for this meeting can be viewed online.

The commission consists of nine members who are appointed by the governor and legislative leaders to oversee transportation development throughout Oklahoma. Each month, they review and award contracts for road and bridge construction projects across the state.

A video livestream of Monday’s meeting will be available through Ustream, with recordings made accessible online after captioning.
