The Oral Roberts men’s basketball program announced on May 5 the addition of transfer sophomore forward Mihail Gavazov to its roster for the 2026-27 season.
The news is significant for the team as it looks to strengthen its lineup with a player who has experience and versatility. Head Coach Kory Barnett said, “Mihail is a high-level shooter who can impact the game in a variety of ways. That versatility is a big part of why we’re excited about his fit in our system.” Barnett added, “He plays with physicality, has a strong feel for the game, and comes from a program that understands winning. We believe his combination of shooting, toughness, and experience will translate immediately for us.”
Gavazov arrives at Oral Roberts University after playing his freshman season at Lindsey Wilson University. During that year, he averaged 11.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and one steal per game while earning Mid-South All-Conference Second Team honors. He reached double figures in scoring in eighteen games and scored twenty or more points three times during the season.
Prior to college basketball in the United States, Gavazov played at Florida Coastal Prep and represented Belarus in seven games at the FIBA U18 level in 2022, averaging 7.4 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He also competed internationally with BC Balkan and Balkan Botevgrad during eight games in both the FIBA Europe Cup tournaments held in 2023 and 2024.
Gavazov’s background includes international competition as well as collegiate experience which may contribute positively to Oral Roberts’ future performance on court.
