Pittsburg County man pleads guilty to federal drug and firearm offenses

Samuel James King, a 25-year-old resident of Indianola, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to federal drug and firearm charges in the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The United States Attorney’s Office announced that King admitted to one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition.

According to the indictment, on May 12, 2025, King knowingly possessed less than fifty kilograms of marijuana with the intent to distribute it. The same day, he was also found in possession of a rifle, a semi-automatic pistol, two revolvers, and several rounds of assorted ammunition. At the time, King had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.

The case resulted from an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the McAlester Police Department.

The Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted King’s plea and ordered a presentence investigation report. Sentencing will be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and other statutory considerations.

King remains in custody under the supervision of the United States Marshals Service while awaiting sentencing.
