The Office of the Oklahoma Attorney General has issued the following press release:

OKLAHOMA CITY - Attorney General John O’Connor thanks departing Oklahoma Solicitor General Mithun Mansinghani for his years of services as he transitions to private practice.

Mithun has faithfully served Oklahoma with integrity, honesty, and exemplary commitment to the rule of law.  As Solicitor General, Mithun played a key role in Oklahoma’s most high-profile cases, including arguing in front of the U.S. Supreme Court in McGirt v. Oklahoma.  Mithun has displayed an unwavering dedication to public service and fought for Oklahomans’ rights every step of the way.

“Oklahomans are fortunate to have benefited from Mithun’s intellect, foresight, and work ethic,” said Attorney General O’Connor.  “His contribution as a public servant to all Oklahomans is remarkable.  He will be sorely missed.”

Mithun was appointed as Oklahoma Solicitor General in 2017 after serving for the prior two years as Deputy Solicitor General.  Before joining the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office, Mithun was a lawyer for Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in Washington, D.C., specializing in appeals and administrative law cases.  He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jerry E. Smith on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  Mithun received his bachelor's degree magna cum laude in both political science and policy studies from Rice University and his law degree with honors from Harvard Law School, where he served as editor of the Harvard Law Review.

Mithun will transition to private practice at the end of the month.  Pending a permanent selection for the vacancy, Deputy Solicitor General Zach West will serve as the Acting Solicitor General.  Deputy Solicitor General Bryan Cleveland will also assume part of Mithun’s duties as the acting Chief for the Reserved Powers Protection Unit.
