The Oklahoma City Museum of Art (OKCMOA) is reminding visitors that the exhibition "Chihuly Then and Now: The Collection at Twenty" will close on January 5, 2025. This exhibition showcases works by Dale Chihuly that have not been previously displayed in Oklahoma.

The exhibition, organized by OKCMOA, began in the summer of 2022 to mark two decades of the collection. It was extended into January 2025 due to high demand. It features five decades of glass and painting from Chihuly's career, including recent works from his Merletto and Rotolo series.

"We are proud to have as a major part of our permanent collection one of the world’s largest public collections of Dale Chihuly glass," said OKCMOA President and CEO Michael Anderson, PhD. "As we bring one Chihuly exhibition to a close and prepare to open another, we reflect on what his work means for our community and invite our visitors to experience his signature use of form, color, and innovation here at OKCMOA."

A new exhibition titled "Dale Chihuly: The Oklahoma Collection" will open on March 8, 2025. This reimagined display will include newly installed works like Confetti Anemone Wall along with favorites such as Neodymium Reeds, Ikebana Boat, and the Oklahoma Persian Ceiling. Video elements illustrating the artist's process will also return.

Also closing on January 5 is "Picasso and the Progressive Proof: Linocut Prints from a Private Collection." Organized by Townsend Art Advisory LLC, this exhibition explores Pablo Picasso's printmaking in his later years.

Visitors can look forward to new galleries opening on December 20. "Land Use: Humanity’s Interaction with Nature" will feature modern art related to environmental interaction. "Postwar Abstraction" will highlight postwar abstraction approaches by artists primarily from the United States.

Members and children under 17 can visit these exhibitions for free. More information is available at okcmoa.com.

"Chihuly Then and Now" is organized by OKCMOA in cooperation with Dale Chihuly and Chihuly Studio, presented by Inasmuch Foundation, Jeaneen Eddie Naifeh, and Glenna and Richard Tanenbaum.
