The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office announced that Santiago Canseco-Cruz was charged with DUI-great bodily injury, assault with a dangerous weapon, and causing great bodily injury without a driver’s license.

The charges stem from an incident after a fight at a party inside a duplex. Canseco-Cruz allegedly got into a Tahoe with a passenger, put the vehicle into drive instead of reverse, and crashed into the building, pinning a person and causing internal injuries, according to News On 6.

People at the party performed CPR on the pinned victim after the crash. Officers found Canseco-Cruz standing next to the Tahoe with the passenger still inside, according to News On 6.

Nationally, 12,429 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving traffic crashes in 2023. Those fatalities represented almost one-third of all traffic crash deaths in the country, averaging one alcohol-impaired driving fatality every 42 minutes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement services throughout Tulsa County and employs more than 600 personnel. Vic Regalado serves as Tulsa County sheriff, according to the office’s official website.
