Oklahoma City University dispatched of Central Christian (Kan.) 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
OCU served up 12 aces for its third double-digit total of service aces this season. The Stars improved to 7-6, 5-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball.
Rylee Steward topped Oklahoma City with 13 kills. Steward, a junior from Edmond, Okla., turned in her fourth double-digit kill performance of the year while hitting .722 for the day. Catelyn Vargas, a senior from Lubbock, Texas, supplied OCU with 11 kills and two aces.
Michela de Stefano, a sophomore from Rome, led Oklahoma City by serving up seven aces. The Stars' Emma Vance, a junior from Norman, Okla., added 16 assists, four digs and two aces, while Cassidy DeShong, a sophomore from Amarillo, Texas, collected 14 assists and six digs. Kaitlyn Dunlap, a sophomore from Wichita Falls, Texas, scooped up eight digs.
In the second set, the Stars overcame an 11-5 deficit. De Stefano landed two aces as OCU reeled off five points in a row. Down 12-10, the Stars put together a 7-1 run sparked by Vargas' kill.
OCU takes on Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas), ranked 10th in the NAIA, at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at Abe Lemons Arena.
