Markell Scott posted a season high 221 rushing yards as the Langston Lions knocked off Arkansas Baptist 45-8 on Saturday evening.
Larry Harrington got the game rolling with a first quarter touchdown run and hit Bryon Hanspard for a 37-yard touchdown strike, giving Langston a 14-0 lead. The Buffaloes answered with a seven-yard touchdown pass but the Lions still led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter.
Markell Scott scored the first of his three touchdowns with an 87-yard run at the 12:06 mark in the second. The Lions tacked on an 18-yard field goal by Octavio Resendiz and entered halftime in front 24-8.
Scott picked up two more touchdowns in the fourth on runs of 14 and two yards to seal the game away at 45-8. Scott finished the day with 221 rushing yards on 19 carries with three touchdowns.
Harrington went nine-for-19 for 146 yards with one touchdown and picked up two scores on the ground.
The Lions were led on defense by Khylan Moseley and Jamar Grice who finished with seven and six tackles respectively. Xzavion Florence and Devin Dourisseau also picked up one interception apiece.
Langston (4-0, 3-0 SAC) hosts Lyon College next weekend at W.E. Anderson Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
