Kameron Shelley scored 19 points, Hailey Jordan added 10 points and the Langston University Lady Lions knocked off the Mid-America Christian Evangels 59-59 in the opening round of the Oklahoma Ford Dealers Sooner Athletic Conference quarterfinals on Thursday evening.
The Lady Lions, seeded seventh in the SAC tournament, led 59-58 with eight seconds left and needed one final defensive stand to hold off the second seeded Evangels.
On the ensuing offensive possession, MACU's Kyleigh Leverich drove the lane and attempted to pass inside but Langston's Anyia Pride tipped the pass into the hands of Taliyah Harris, negating the pass and sealing the opening round victory.
Shelley led Langston in scoring with 19 points on seven-of-16 shooting including five three-pointers on the night. Jordan finished with 10 and picked up five rebounds.
