NSU softball visits Springfield this weekend and will play four games at Drury University.
The RiverHawks will meet NAIA programs Evangel and Cottey at noon and 2 p.m on Saturday. Both games will be played at a secondary field at Drury and will not have live coverage. Northeastern State played Evangel last season and won 4-1 in Springfield. The match-up with Cottey will be the first between the two programs.
On Sunday, NSU will see Minnesota Crookston for the first time at 9:30 a.m. and closes the trip with Augustana at 1:30 p.m. Crookston is 4-7 to start the year and was tabbed to finish 14th out of 16 schools in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Augustana (2-4) comes from the same league as Crookston and was its preseason favorite to win. The Vikings have been idle for nearly a month after opening the season in Texas.
Northeastern State is second in the nation with 27 home runs, with Chloe Bohuslavicky second in NCAA D-II softball with nine homers. She holds the NSU single-season home run mark with 13, which was set last season. Madison Heinle is second among MIAA players with 55 strikeouts and has three saves.
