Washington, D.C. – In honor of National Police Week, Congressman Josh Brecheen and House Republicans passed several bills and resolutions to memorialize law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty and to support state and local police officers.
“The hundreds of thousands of courageous men and women in law enforcement cannot be thanked enough for all they do to keep our communities safe. These men and women put their lives on the line every single day and often do not get the credit they deserve,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen. “Unfortunately, many liberals demonize our law enforcement officers and support radical and divisive movements that would defund or dismantle our local law enforcement agencies. Those of us who see the insanity in such a position that leads to lawlessness are committed to ensuring our men and women in Blue are seen for the everyday heroes they are.”
Congressman Josh Brecheen voted in favor of the following (all passed the House of Representatives):
- H.Res. 363: A resolution memorializing law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
- H.R. 2494, POLICE Act of 2023: Amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to make it a deportable offense for any alien, illegal or legal, who assaults a law enforcement officer.
- H.R. 3091, Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act: The General Services Administration would be required to create a program, within one year of enactment, to facilitate the purchase of retired handguns by federal law enforcement officers from the agencies that issued them.
- H. Con. Res. 40: Expressing support for local law enforcement officers and condemning efforts to defund or dismantle local law enforcement agencies
Congressman Brecheen also highlighted the work of law enforcement in combating illicit fentanyl in our communities.
