Ahead of Small Business Saturday, Jerrod Shouse, the NFIB State Director, has called on Oklahomans to support local businesses not only during the holiday season but throughout the year. In an interview with Fox 25 News, Shouse emphasized the benefits of shopping at small businesses.
“All in all, it’s a great experience for you as the shopper,” Shouse said. “Shopping small really is great for our communities. Small businesses are owned by our friends and our neighbors, they live right here in our communities with us. They are the people who often support our schools and our little league teams and our local nonprofits and charities.”
Shouse also addressed this topic in an op-ed published in The Journal Record. He highlighted how shopping locally contributes positively to the economy and community spirit.
“When we shop small, we’re helping the family-run businesses that sponsor our kid’s sports teams, support our schools, and donate to charities. We’re supporting our neighbors who employ hardworking Oklahomans. And we’re reaffirming our commitment to our community,” he wrote.
