A five goal first half stood up well for the Murray State men's soccer team Saturday as they opened the 2022 season with a 5-1 victory over visiting Garden City Community College.
The Aggies were able to play the entire roster in the contest as they held the visitors to limited scoring opportunities.
Veterans Cesar Solis and Antonio Cantoran once again led the offensive charge for the Aggies with two goals apiece while England freshman Joel Green connected for the squad's other goal.
Solis and Green also tallied assists as did Dominic Woolley, Ethan Squires and Pepijn Borst.
Head coach John Connor also praised the performance of goalkeeper Melvin Bonilla and right back Brian Beltran.
"It was a good start for us with everyone able to see action, but we have bigger goals in mind," Connor commented. "Many of our guys have been in this position before so there's very little time to enjoy the win. We have get right back at it and work hard to get to the level we want.
"Our goal is to be able to celebrate at the end of November."
