The Oklahoma Christian Lady Eagles opened the new year with a game against the top team in the Lone Star conference.
The Lady Eagles started the game with a Brooklin Bain layup off the tip-off and rolled that start into a 15-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. OC had seven players score in the quarter and were led by Nakia Cullom and Kate Bradley, each with three.
The teams traded baskets in the second quarter before, in the final two minutes, TWU went on an 8-0 run to take a 38-29 lead into the halftime break. Bradley and Bain led the Eagles at the break with eight points each.
The Pioneers opened the third quarter by expanding their lead to eleven, but the Lady Eagles kept fighting. And with three minutes left in the quarter, Kate Bradley drained a 3-pointer to cut the lead down to two. OC won the quarter 18-15, but TWU had drawn the lead back out to six.
In the fourth quarter, Oklahoma Christian battled to cut the lead down to three with a Nakia Cullom layup with 2:51 remaining in the game. But Texas Woman's used the free throw line, where they benefited with a 38-27 attempt advantage, to seal the game, 76-67.
The Lady Eagles will hit the road next game for a two-game road trip before returning to the Nest on January 12th.
