The Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority have announced the passing of Stephen J. LaForge, District 7 Oklahoma Transportation Commissioner, on February 14. LaForge was recognized for his leadership and commitment to enhancing transportation in Oklahoma.

Appointed by Governor Kevin Stitt in April 2019, LaForge represented District 7, which includes nine counties in Southwestern Oklahoma. His service extended beyond this role as he was a member of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority Board from 1995 to 2003.

LaForge's contributions were marked by his understanding of the need for a strong transportation network and his vision for timely improvements. His dedication to public service and community advocacy has left a significant impact on the state.

His colleagues noted that "he was a dedicated public servant who truly cared about the people of Oklahoma." They emphasized that "his tireless support, insight and leadership in both his professional and community roles have left a profound impact on the state."

The statement concluded with a request: "Please keep the LaForge family in your thoughts."
