An Oklahoma Centennial Farm award has been granted to the Hurst-Patch Farm in Canadian County, as announced by Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Lynda Ozan. The farm, owned by Frank and Janice Hurst, is located near El Reno. The family has been cultivating wheat and hay and raising cattle on this land since 1891 when it was settled by their great-uncle Charles R. Patch.

Additionally, the property must consist of at least 40 acres and generate gross annual sales of $1,000 or more.
The Centennial Farm & Ranch Awards have been sponsored for 35 years by the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. During this period, 81 awards have been presented in Canadian County.
