The Oklahoma History Center Museum, in collaboration with OKC Beautiful, is set to host a program focused on environmental justice. The event will take place on Friday, February 28, from 1-4 p.m. at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

Abby Randall and Dr. Carrie Leslie will kick off the event with a lecture titled “Environmental Justice 101,” aimed at providing foundational knowledge on the topic. Following this, Dr. Matthew Pearce, state historian for the Oklahoma Historical Society, will present a historical overview of environmental injustices that have influenced Oklahoma City.

The program will conclude with a panel discussion featuring community leaders who are actively involved in promoting environmental justice within the OKC metro area. Moderator Amy Warne will lead the conversation with panelists Lauren Nixon from OKC Beautiful; Denyvetta Davis representing the JFK Neighborhood and NE OKC Neighborhood Coalition; and Travis Andrews from Native Farming Solutions and Skyline.

The event is free to attend and will be held in the Musser Learning Lab inside the John and Eleanor Kirkpatrick Research Center at the Oklahoma History Center. Attendance is limited to 50 people, so participants are encouraged to register online through the Museum Store.

The Oklahoma History Center Museum is located at 800 Nazih Zuhdi Dr., Oklahoma City. It operates Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information about admission costs and group rates, contact 405-522-0765 or visit www.okhistory.org/historycenter.
