Author Diane Helentjaris is scheduled to present and sign her new book at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid, Oklahoma. The event will take place on Thursday, April 10, from 6-8 p.m. The presentation is titled “Lulu Bell Parr’s Ride into Oklahoma History” and is based on Helentjaris’ biography “‘I Ain’t Afraid’ — The World of Lulu Bell Parr, Wild West Cowgirl.”
The biography explores the life of Lulu Bell Parr, a performer in Wild West shows who was later inducted into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Her career included working with Pawnee Bill’s Wild West tours and other prominent groups such as the 101 Ranch and Buffalo Bill. Known as “Queen of the Cowgirls,” Parr had one of the longest careers among performers in this genre.
Books will be available for purchase during the event, which includes a discussion session. Admission to the book signing requires paid entry and is open to everyone.
