The Fort Gibson Historic Site in Oklahoma is preparing for its annual Spring Bake Day, scheduled for Saturday, April 12. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with fresh bread available around noon and again at 3:30 p.m.

Visitors are invited to explore the newly renovated 1870s historic hospital on site, which now includes a gift shop, gallery spaces, and a replica hospital ward. The fort itself will be open for self-guided tours. Regular admission fees apply unless visitors are solely there to purchase bread or visit the gift shop. Sampling the bread is free of charge, though donations are welcomed.

In addition to enjoying freshly baked goods, attendees can witness living history demonstrations that illustrate life at the military outpost for Mounted Rangers in the 1930s. Re-enactors will provide insights into the weapons and equipment used during assignments, maintenance routines, travel logistics, supplies management, housing conditions and more. This educational program is included with paid admission and takes place in the palisade area.

For further details about Spring Bake Day or other inquiries, interested parties can contact 918-478-4088. The Fort Gibson Historic Site is located at 803 N. Garrison Ave., Fort Gibson.

The site operates under the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS), whose mission is "to collect, preserve and share the history and culture of the state of Oklahoma and its people." Established in 1893 by members of the Territorial Press Association, OHS oversees museums and historic sites across Oklahoma while providing research archives, exhibits, educational programs and publications that document Oklahoma's rich history.
