The Fred and Addie Drummond Home in Hominy, Oklahoma, will soon open its doors to an exhibit featuring hammered aluminum ware. This display will run from April 2 to April 30 and will include various examples of hammered aluminum metalware, such as salad dishes, cookie trays, and pitchers accompanied by matching tumblers.

Hammered aluminum was widely used by homemakers from the early 1900s until the 1950s, favored for its affordability and lightness. With metals in short supply during World War I and World War II, this material became a popular option at events such as card games, birthday celebrations, church gatherings, and coffee socials. Items made from aluminum, whether hand-wrought or machine-produced, were often given as wedding gifts and required no polishing.

Visitors to the exhibition can tour the Fred and Addie Drummond Home with the cost of paid admission. The home is situated at 305 N. Price Ave. and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For additional information, visitors can call 918-352-5583.

This historic home is managed by the Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS), an organization devoted to preserving and sharing the history and culture of Oklahoma. Established in 1893 by the Territorial Press Association, the OHS oversees museums, historic sites, and related affiliates throughout the state. More details about the OHS are available at www.okhistory.org.
