Registration is now open for the annual Education Day at Fort Gibson Historic Site, scheduled for Friday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature various stations in the palisade area, demonstrating essential skills, crafts, and trades from the 19th-century Indian Territory. Participants can learn about fiber arts, cooking, weapons, and more.

Schools interested in participating must pre-register to secure a two-hour time block. The admission fee for students is $4, while teachers, bus drivers, and one chaperone per ten students can attend free of charge. The registration deadline is Saturday, April 19, or sooner if all slots are filled. To register, interested parties should contact fortgibson@history.ok.gov.

For additional details, the Fort Gibson Historic Site can be reached at 918-478-4088. The site is located at 803 N. Garrison Ave. in Fort Gibson.
