An Oklahoma Centennial Farm award has been granted to John Wesley Keesee, the owner of Keesee Farms in Harmon County. Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Lynda Ozan made the announcement.

Keesee Farms, situated near Hollis, has been in the family since 1920 when Henry Wilson Keesee settled there. The family has traditionally engaged in wheat farming and cattle raising on this land.

To receive a Centennial Farm or Ranch Award, properties must have been occupied by a family member for at least 100 years and be currently operated or leased by a family member. The property should cover a minimum of 40 acres and generate gross annual sales of at least $1,000.

The Centennial Farm & Ranch Awards are sponsored by the Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Over its 36-year history, 25 awards have been presented in Harmon County.
