The Oklahoma Historical Society and State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) have announced the addition of two properties to the National Register of Historic Places. This list recognizes sites significant in American history.
In Oklahoma County, the Frank and Lillian Primm Rock House, located at 20000 NE 23rd St., Harrah, has been designated. Built by Frank Primm from 1930 to 1942, this property is noted for its historic integrity and unique design. The house exemplifies a personal adaptation of the Tudor Revival style using native materials. The site includes several contributing resources such as a garage apartment, lake, and rock garden. It was nominated under Criterion C for Architecture.
In Logan County, the Langston Jail at 205 Drexel St., Langston, has also been listed. Constructed in 1935 through a New Deal-era federal program, it serves as an example of local law enforcement practices during that period. It is one of the earliest small jails built with federal relief funds in Oklahoma and is unique for being funded by the Federal Emergency Relief Administration (FERA). It holds significance under Criterion C for Architecture and Criterion A for Law.
According to SHPO, listing on the National Register provides recognition and limited protection while offering potential financial incentives for these properties.
